Shapes Make the Character

Taught by Chas Chasler, writer and illustrator of Milo the Mime

What separates a flat drawing from a character with personality? It usually comes down to shape. In this workshop, cartoonist Chas Chasler walks through his own process for building characters from basic geometric forms, turning circles, squares, and triangles into expressive faces and figures with real presence on the page.

Chas draws on his years of experience creating and illustrating cartoon characters to show how shape choices communicate personality before a single line of detail gets added. You'll practice these techniques directly and come away with a repeatable method for designing your own characters.

Good for beginners and experienced artists alike. No prior cartooning experience required.
